We, the members of St. John Fisher parish, as Catholics believe in the
Triune God -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. His presence and truth is
communicated to us through the Church, particularly in its Scripture and
Tradition. We believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Redeemer, who by dying
for our sins, reconciles us to God and gives us new life in the Holy
Spirit. We believe we are called to this new life through His community,
the church.
We recognize the bishops as successors of the apostles and the Pope, the
successor of Peter and Vicar of Christ, as their head. We draw strength
from our patron saint, John Fisher, who as Bishop of Rochester led his
people to focus their minds and hearts on the truth of God. His commitment
to education teaches us that a thorough understanding of Scripture and
Tradition prepares us to follow Christ. In martyrdom, John Fisher instructs
us to uphold the faith of the Catholic Church.
In this parish, pastor and people together experience the Word of God, the
Holy Sacraments, and the Communion of Christian Discipleship. As members of
the Body of Christ, we accept His Gospel call to make Him known to the
world and to continue His mission.
