Altar Servers

Altar servers assist the priest during Mass. Altar server training takes place in the early spring and is available to those in the fifth grade or older.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild regularly cares for many practical needs within the parish, including care of the altar area, hosting receptions, church cleaning, and laundering of sacramental linens.

Children's Religious Education

The parish children's religious education program runs concurrently with the school year and meets Sundays after the 9:00 AM Mass (Approx. 10:00 AM). Children in the kindergarten through eighth grades are welcome. Regular and substitute volunteer catechists and assistants are needed who wish to instill within children a sense and knowledge of the Catholic faith. Part of the children's RE program is the Children's Liturgy of the Word, in which the children from grades K-4 are temporarily dismissed from 11:00 AM Mass to hear the readings and a short message at their developmental level.

Daily Rosary

The centuries-old personal devotion of the Rosary is prayed in the church after daily Mass (7:40 AM) and on Sundays at 8:30 AM.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic ministers assist the priest in distribution of communion at Mass and take the Eucharist to Catholics unable to attend Mass.

Fishermen

The Fishermen clean and vacuum the church once a week, usually on Thursdays.

Greeters

Greeters are the smiling faces that welcome people as they arrive at Mass and carry the gifts to the altar during the Presentation of the Gifts.

Liturgical Readers

Readers proclaim the Word of God to the congregation during the Mass. There are occasional training workshops for readers.

Men's Club

Pastoral Council

The parish council is a consultative body of parishioners who meet monthly with the pastor and pastoral staff to discuss the direction of the parish.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults meets regularly from October through June and is the normal way by which adults enter the Catholic Church. Its focus is on an adult-level education in the faith and preparing people for full communion with the Catholic Church. Confirmed, enthusiastic Catholics are needed as witnesses and sponsors.

The St. Vincent DePaul Society provides emergency help to those in need in the local vicinity. Also includes migrant ministry in the late spring and early summer.

Seniors Group

Social and spiritual support for parish seniors. Monthly social activities and meetings.

Ushers

The ushers minister to the parish by assisting with seating, collections and bulletin distribution during all Masses. They also assist in greeting in the absence of greeters.

Please call (503) 244-4945 ext. 2 to make arrangements for either. Most baptisms take place early Saturday and must be preceded by a prepatory session. Weddings require at least six months preparation.
